When the Senate passed legislation purportedly to stem the tide of online sex trafficking, Craigslist immediately shuttered its infamous personals section — closing a virtual queer space that long provided a free and accessible cyber haven for those exploring their sexuality and gender. For this report in The Washington Post, I interviewed advice columnist Dan Savage as well as several academics about what the loss of Craigslist means to the LGBTQ community, sex workers and online dating at large.
